'DEEPEST DARKEST' Acrylic on Canvas Series by Katrina Scott
Deepest Darkest #8 is the final piece in the Deepest Darkest series and is being released from the artists own catalogue. This spectacular, imposing jet black acrylic on canvas measures H1850mm x W1250mm and may be hung vertically or horizontally.
These works are custom framed in LuMu's signature black shadow line frame.
Sydney born, raised and trained, Katrina Scott is a professional ceramic sculptor and painter. Her early leanings were toward three dimensional, semi-abstract works on canvas featuring molding mediums, silk fabrics and acrylics. Her early works saw a leaning toward the study of organic, often microscopic matter including fossils and fungi and the translation of those images to a larger-scale, incredibly detailed work.
A natural interest in the simplicity and sometime complexity of ceramics saw her further study hand thrown pottery and develop her finishing and glazing techniques. She completed further training in art technique and had since pursued an interest in water colours, hand painted textile design and her true passion of acrylic on canvas.
More recently, Katrina created a line of hand painted textiles that were commercially marketed through home wares stores across Sydney and Melbourne.
Once again inspired by the layers of earth below our feet (and her ceramicist roots) Katrina has created a number of large scale contemporary works currently available through leading Sydney home wares boutique LuMu Interiors. “From results experienced in underground pit-fired ceramics and natural stones, my aim is to reflect the aesthetic genius that the elements, with time and no apparent plan can create.”
Katrina’s works have been featured in Belle Magazine, Vogue Living and Home Beautiful and in some of the Sydney’s most prominent homes. Katrina’s works remain a popular artwork choice for some of the top country’s interior tastemakers including Steve Cordony and Megan Morton.
